Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
Build and maintain structures that facilitate effective and relevant Management / Financial reporting.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This position is based in Muizenberg and reports to the Director of Finance.This is a permanent position.
1. REPORTING
1.1. Reporting – Development and Process
• Develop and maintain Seattle Coffee Co group Annual Reporting Calendar (ARC)
• Develop and tailor electronic refreshable month end management packs for each division and update for any changes in structures or layout
• Upskill the business ito tailored reports and IDU functionality
• Update changes to IDU structures for each division as needed and maintain on an ongoing basis
• Facilitate monthly, internal reporting meetings in line with ARC
• Coordinate and Perform Overhead Analysis for the group and liaise with FOMs (Financial-operations managers) and divisional heads to gain an understanding of performance
• Understand the Seattle Coffee Co group’s strategy and support decision making through sound financial analysis and reporting
• Improve and enhance reporting processes of the Seattle Coffee Co group
1.2. Month end
• Enforce Month end reporting deadlines with all stakeholders
• Act as Liaison with Holding Company re month end close off
• Issue and maintain month end checklists for all departments and FOM’s
• Develop and maintain processes for collection and import of information from operations into SAGE
• Import financial information from divisions not on SAGE
• Prepare Consolidation journals for Seattle Coffee Co group
• Prepare and manage month end Management Pack for Seattle Coffee Co group / consolidation
BUDGETING AND FORECASTING
• Prepare Quarterly forecasts on I/S, B/S and cashflow for the Seattle Coffee Co group
• Compile annual budget guidelines
• Plan and communicate annual budget timelines to all stakeholders
• Prepare and test IDU for annual budget process, ensuring appropriate access, cost centers and GL accounts
• Train stakeholders on correct use of excel templates, IDU and import functionality
• Assistance with importing and setup of budgets files
• Ensure adherence to deadlines
• Facilitate budget presentation meetings and follow up on actions
• Preparation of certain budget entries
• Consolidation and presentation of Seattle Coffee Co group Budget to Board
YEAR END AUDIT
• Act as Liaison between Seattle Coffee Co group, Holding Company and auditors
• Manage and coordinate the external audit process from a Seattle Coffee Co group POV
• Plan and prep year end close-off of TBs in conjunction with FOMs and Group Financial Manager
• Prepare technical accounting entries for group:
– Current and Deferred Tax
– IFRS Specific entries
– Provisions
– Assessment of impairments on loans, goodwill and investments
• Certain Disclosure calculations
• Review of AFS
• Drive deadlines to meet sign off dates as per Holding Company timelines
• Responsible for communication of new and amended accounting policies to relevant stakeholders
FINANCIAL-OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
• Act a Financial-Operational Manager for smaller group entities
• Onboarding of group entities, not on appropriate software and procedures
• Review of month-end balance sheet files to gain holistic view of business finances
• Maintenance of non-standard accounts
• Cashflow planning and authorization of pay runs
• Monthly close off of Income statement
• Monthly reporting
• Co-ordinate annual budgets and forecasts with the business and effectively present the numbers and model to Directors
Skills Required
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Reporting experience essential
Budgeting, auditing and month end requirements essential
Sound Knowledge of accounting principles essential;
Technical IFRS understanding
1-2 years of experience in financial and management accounting;
Experience on SAGE 300, IDU or other financial system beneficial;
Computer literate in MS Word, Excel and Outlook; and
The incumbent should be Fully conversant in English, must have good time management skills and must have the ability to handle pressure, deal with deadlines and function within a team.
